what dreams are made of
When I was growing up I remember the first time I saw a car with a pointy nose, and headlights that disappeared into the front of the car when off. It was red. At that moment I became obsessed with the lines of that car. It’s shape and beauty.
The look was something I had never come across before, and something that I became obsessed with. I think I first saw the car in a large board mounted poster being sold at the local shopping centre. At the time I asked my parents if I could have it (the poster, not the car). They of course said no. Later though, my dad would buy me the board mounted poster.
It was a Ferrari Testarossa convertible.
This poster was the beginning of my obsession with super cars and photographs of cars. To this day it still hangs proudly above my bed-head at my parents home.
The next car I became obsessed with was the Ferrari 288 GTO. Followed by the Lamborghini Countach, thanks to a movie called Cannonball Run.
A poster of a Lamborghini Countach adorned the wall opposite my bed at my parents home. It too is still there. When I went to sleep at night I would stare at the Lamborghini, memorising the lines. After awhile I started to notice the proportions of the car, and how they related to each other. Then I began to notice the background, and how it made the car much more attractive. To quote a ‘very wise man’,
“One day, she will be mine. Oh yes, she will be mine…”
