When the red mist descends only you and your target exist.
Often you’ll hear or read about professional drivers and the “red mist”. The instinctual reaction to being passed. The need for retaliation. It’s a phenomenon that isn’t unique to racing drivers and affects all of us during our lives at one point or another.
It can rear its ugly head during moments of anger, or want for revenge.
Those who know me well have seen a side of me that I don’t generally want to be known. Those who grew up with me saw it often. I had a very short fuse, and I still do to a certain extent. But I’d like to think I can keep it under control now, and am able to keep my cool…most of the time.
It’s an awful thing really. You either end up on the wrong side of the law, or in a really bad situation that just escalates out of control. It’s always better to leave, than to remain and attempt to one up the one causing grief.

No no no!!! Don’t set me on the moral high ground now! I’m *this* close to turning the tables.
Besides, the situation is always far more difficult when the other person is still pecking away at you from behind everyone else with a sly smile on their face. Karma clearly isn’t doing it’s job…
I reckon it’s always more difficult, and revenge can be sweet. But then it kinda eats away at you afterward even if you end up besting the other.
You win, but you can’t let it go. It’s always there in the back of your mind. Let it go from the start and eventually (might be a long time) it’ll be gone, and karma will have gone and done it’s job when you’ve long forgotten. If you catch my drift…
But yes, revenge is oh so sweet.
