As I’ve gotten older I’ve noticed that more and more people like to bluff their hands.
Everyone’s come across the friend that exaggerates stories of times long gone, and the person that has found a new desire and wants to talk about it but never goes beyond just talking. These are the types I’m writing about.
I’m not sure what compells some people to do such things. Insecurity about where they stand at the present time, a need for acceptance, a desire to be envied?
No one in my circle of friends at the moment is like this, thankfully. But I’ve come across it before and it’s tiring. I’ve found that nowadays it’s the fringe-dwellers that seem to do it more often than not. Those just on the edge of the circle.
The thing that gets tiring about that is, you don’t want to be rude, and you want to think the best of people. But sometimes it’s just hard, especially when they’re talking of things you personally have a significant amount of experience with (but assumedly the person telling the story doesn’t know this…cause if they did, they wouldn’t exaggerate the story as much).
Maybe that’s why those people stay on the fringe as acquaintances and not friends…
